Shane Porter: Trumpet, Arranger
Trumpet Instructor & Jazz Ensemble Director at Alabama State University, graduated in 2002 with a M.S. in Music Education from Troy State University and from the University of Alabama in 1999 with a B.M. in Jazz Composition and Arranging. Mr. Porter's music publishing career started in 1999 with companies such as Warner Brothers Music, FJH Music, & Jalen Publishing. Being an experienced arranger & teacher in all genres of educational music, Porter has been invited to judge jazz & marching festivals from the East Coast to the Mid-West. He has been a performer & clinician in many diverse National and International venues even before graduating high school. His performance career has put him on the stage with some of the world's most famous artists including Stevie Wonder, Kenny Rogers, The Temptations, The O'Jays, and most recently, American Idol, Ruben Studdard. Mr. Porter is continuously promoting music education by being involved with such organizations as the National Education Association, International Association of Jazz Educators, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society & Phi Mu Alpha Sinphonia National Music Fraternity. Mr. Porter is an exclusive performer for Lawler Brass Instruments.
